Day 271 - The Grand Finale

Last night M, S, and I went out for the last lunch adventure. We started off these adventures at ‘S’, so we ended by going out to a nice restaurant beginning with ‘T’. We had a really great meal! I got the homemade pappardelle pasta with mushrooms and a herb sauce.

S got a delicious piece of steak, and M had some fantastic chicken. I actually remembered to bring my little camera with me, but apparently the battery was dead. Luckily, S had his trusty iPhone, so we got photos of our last meal.

We all got dessert too. M and I both had the dark chocolate and caramel tart, and S had a piece of death by chocolate cake. Yum!!

What a fantastic year of meals the three of us have had together! (You can review them all here) I am so glad that we all went out for a ‘blog-worthy’ lunch back in September and decided to start these lunch adventures. It has been so much fun going out for a meal every week or so with M and S. I have loved getting to spend time with the two of them and getting know them better, and I will dearly miss them next fall as they are both graduating this weekend.

Today’s Good Thing: It’s Mike and Jenn’s Day of Fun!!!

Day 266 - The Second to Last Lunch Adventure

For our second to last Lunch Adventure, we went out to the cafe of a grocery store nearby beginning with the letter ‘U’. M and I had fun at the salad bar while S checked out the pizza. Afterwards we got frozen yogurt at a place a few doors down. I just love frozen yogurt places with tons of flavors where you get to pile on as many toppings as you want. The trick is to go for light things so that the weight doesn’t get too high and you end up paying an arm and a leg for some fro-yo. I got the vanilla flavor and topped it with strawberries, kiwi, and mango with a few chocolate chips and walnuts, and of course, some gummy bears, because no ice cream type dessert is complete without a few gummy bears.

It’s the first week of finals here at my college. I think this is the most relaxed finals week I’ve ever had. M, S, and I finished our final project for the business class on Monday. And now I’m just working on a take home exam that’s due on Friday. This weekend I’ll be studying hard for my last exam on Monday morning, but even that won’t be too stressful as we get to bring in some of our materials to the exam.

I hope you’re having a fantastic week!!

Today’s Good Thing: I’m planning to finish my take home today and then go for a walk!

Day 263 - ‘V’ is for Victory!

Yesterday M, S, and I went out for lunch at a cute little upscale diner starting with the letter ‘V’. M and I both got cheese burgers with fries, which funnily enough, we’d both been seriously craving (we attributed this to a recent lack of protein). S got chicken fingers. I forgot my camera, so S and his iPhone saved the day and brought you this photo. Actually, I was so hungry that I also forgot to take a picture before I started eating. Thanks again to S for reminding me before I devoured the entire thing (which I did about 5 seconds after taking this photo). Now, we only have ‘U’ and ‘T’ left to go before we complete the alphabet!

This afternoon I’m having my very first massage! I’m using the gift certificate I got from the pedometer program, and I am so excited!!! Then this evening, Mike and I are heading to my house for the weekend. We’re visiting our first potential wedding venue Saturday morning and meeting with a photographer on Sunday morning. Mike’s parents are also coming for lunch on Saturday, which should be very fun!

I hope you have a fantastic weekend!!

Today’s Good Thing: I’m going home for the weekend!!

Day 256 - The Dyslexic Dining Club Takes On X & W

Yesterday afternoon, M, S, and I checked X and W off the list of lunch adventures. Now we only have, V, U, and T left, and with three and a half weeks until graduation, I think we’ll make it through the alphabet!

Finding a restaurant whose name starts ‘X’ proved difficult, so we ended up stopping by the campus convenience store, called the X-Change, to get drinks and a snack before heading to the local winery for ‘W’.

At the winery, we had lunch at their tavern before going on the tour and tasting. The tavern had really delicious food! I had a tomato and mozzarella sandwich with a yummy side salad.

It was an absolutely gorgeous day yesterday, so we dined al fresco and enjoyed the grounds of the winery before the start of our tour.

The local winery gives free tours and tastings to students, so we took advantage of that. If you pay the $10 for the tour (as I did the other weekend when M, my roommate from study abroad, came to visit), you get to keep a wine glass with the winery’s logo on it. But you really only need one such glass, unless you want to make a complete set, in which case it would probably be more cost effective to scour the local thrift stores for donated winery glasses, so the free student tour and tasting worked perfectly for us. I joked that we should come for tastings every afternoon.

Today’s Good Thing: I’m going to send in my design submission today!

P.S. For the interested party, take three of smoothie making was much more successful - more on that tomorrow!

Day 247 - The Letter ‘Y’

Mid-morning yesterday S called me and asked if I was up for lunch, and of course the answer was ‘Yes!’ (I’ve been saying that a lot this week!). M and S picked me up a little after noon, and we headed out to a French restaurant starting with the letter ‘Y’ for a fancy mid-week luncheon!

We all decided to try the lunch special. I started with the French Onion Soup, which was delicious: creamy, cheesy, and onion-y.

We all had the same main course - ‘Le Boeuf’. It consisted of succulent beef, oyster mushrooms, and rigatoni covered in a cream sauce with a little bit of pesto and cheese. Oh my gosh, it was amazing!

Finally, it was time for dessert! S and I had profiteroles while M had raspberry sorbet. The profiterole was delicious, and that chocolate sauce was quite divine. All in all, it was the perfect lunch! I wish we could go out for it everyday.

Today’s Good Thing: I get to spend the morning presenting at a research conference!
